To Involve or not to Involve? Investigating the Contribution of Innovative Users to Subjective Video QoE Ratings

چکیده
In today's highly competitive and volatile technology market environment, Quality of Experience has become a key differentiator. However, it is unclear how to take human factors into account and how to benefit from involving participants with specific user characteristics in QoE research. Based on an online survey with online video viewers (N=533), we investigated if innovative users, who are thinking ahead of market and who are dissatisfied with current video solutions, rate video quality differently compared to general users. Results show that innovative users, although they are more confronted with video distortions, are not more sensitive in terms of video QoE. Keywords— Human Factors; Innovativeness; Video QoE

Hybrid Recommender System Based on Variance Item Rating
K-nearest neighbors (KNN) based recommender systems (KRS) are among the most successful recent available recommender systems. These methods involve in predicting the rating of an item based on the mean of ratings given to similar items, with the similarity defined by considering the mean rating given to each item as its feature. This paper presents a KRS developed by combining the following app...
متن کاملNetwork Resource Management for Improving Users Quality of experience in Software Defined Network by Weighted Fuzzy Petri-NetMethod
The rapid rise in popularity of multimedia applications, such as VoIP, IPTV and Video Conferencing, intensifies the need to consider resource management for user satisfaction. Furthermore, improving Quality of Experience (QoE) in Software Defined Networks (SDNs) services is one of the important issues to be addressed by provisioning optimum resource management. In this paper, resource allocatio...

متن کاملStrong convergence theorem for solving split equality fixed point problem which does not involve the prior knowledge of operator norms
Our contribution in this paper is to propose an iterative algorithm which does not require prior knowledge of operator norm and prove a strong convergence theorem for approximating a solution of split equality fixed point problem for quasi-nonexpansive mappings in a real Hilbert space. So many have used algorithms involving the operator norm for solving split equality fixed point problem, ...
متن کاملGain from Strain? Assessing the Impact of User Fatigue on the Quality of Subjective MOS Ratings
This paper addresses a central question in subjective test design: ”What is the appropriate duration for QoE lab experiments that involve human participants?” Since user tests are time-consuming and costly, this is an important question as it exposes the fundamental challenge of maximizing test duration while avoiding problems arising from undue strain on test participants. We provide an extens...
